2018-19: Nyona had a tremendous jump as a sophomore...She played in 26 of the team's 28 games...She finished the season averaging 6.7 points per game...She especially improved her three-point shooting where she hit 23 three-pointers...Her best game came against Benedict when she scored 18 points...She also added 17 points in a win over Virginia State.
2017-18: Nyona had a solid freshman season for the Rams...She played in all 27 games for the Rams...She averaged 4.3 points per game and she added 22 assists with 20 steals...Her best game came against Shaw when she scored 16 points.
Personal: Nyona joined the Rams in the fall of 2017 when she was a key component of the Rams’ recruiting class…She is a 2017 graduate of Union Pines High School where she led her team to a 93-20 overall record during her career and she compiled 1,657 career points with 500 assists…She earned first team all-conference honors three times and was named the conference player of the year during her senior season…She was also a three-time first team all-district selection as well as the district player of the year…She was named to the Holiday All-Tournament team four times….She was also a star in the classroom where she was a four-time academic all-conference selection and a three-time North Carolina High School Sports Athletic Association (NCHSAA) Scholar-Athlete….For these reasons, she was also honored as the Robin Lea Female Athlete of the Year for Union Pines High…She is an Exercise Science major and she is the daughter of LaShonda Dockery.
