    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (7-9, 3-4 CIAA) showed some great promise, but the team could not quite keep up with the #6 Virginia Union Panthers (12-1, 4-0 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The Rams had some spots of strong play though out the game, but the team also suffered some major struggles that proved costly in the tough loss.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams (7-8) broke out for a big second half to claim a 68-57 win over the Virginia State Trojans (8-9), Thursday evening. The Rams utilized a third-quarter break out to claim the non-conference win and snapped a two-game skid.
  • Clear Bag Policy in Effect for WSSU Home Basketball Games

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC - To best ensure the safety of the campus community and the public, and to expedite entry into athletic venues, Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) has adopted a clear-bag policy. The policy limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into venues at WSSU and will be implemented at all home basketball games the C.E. Gaines Center. The policy is similar to those that have been adopted recently for large athletic venues across North Carolina, including Wake Forest University and North Carolina A&T State University.
  • Tough Defense Not Enough for Rams in 54-48 Loss at #23 Bowie State

    BOWIE, MD – The Winston-Salem State Rams (6-7) put on one of their best defensive efforts of the season, but the effort was not enough when the team took a 54-48 road loss to the #23 Bowie State Bulldogs (13-0), Saturday afternoon. The Rams put on another of their trademark strong defensive performances, but the team could not overcome a slow offensive start in the hard-fought road loss.
  • Rams Take a Hard-Fought 75-55 Loss at USC-Aiken

    AIKEN, SC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (6-7) started 2020 on a down note when the team took a 75-55 road loss to the USC-Aiken Pacers (6-5), Wednesday afternoon. The Rams put on a solid effort, but the team struggled to get their offense in gear against the tough Pacer defense in the loss.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (6-6, 3-4 CIAA) closed out home court with an impressive performance when the team took a 69-57 win over the Saint Augustine’s Falcons (5-6, 1-3 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The Rams coupled a great defensive performance with a pair of breakout offensive performances to claim the win and ended a two-game conference skid for the Rams.

    RICHMOND, VA – The points were hard to come by for the Winston-Salem State Rams (5-6, 2-4 CIAA) when the team took a 51-36 road loss to the #9 Virginia Union Panthers (7-1, 3-0 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The Rams played a strong defensive game, but the team could not quite get their offense into gear as they took their second straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) loss. 
  • Rams Take a 54-46 Loss at Virginia State

    ETTRICK, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (5-5, 2-3 CIAA) came up on the short end of a defensive struggle when the Rams took a 54-46 road loss to the Virginia State Trojans (6-5, 3-1 CIAA), Thursday evening. Strong defense was the order of the day with both teams making shots hard to make. However, in the end, it was the Rams who took the loss in the end. 
  • Rams Defense Clamps Down for a 55-45 Win at Elizabeth City State

    ELIZABETH CITY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (5-4, 2-2 CIAA) turned to their defense to claim a 55-45 win over the Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings (2-5, 2-2 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The Rams held the Lady Vikings to just 45 points to claim their second straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) road win.

The Rams will bring in three high school players who all have tremendous prep careers and will look to take WSSU women’s basketball to new heights.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (3-4, 0-2 CIAA) could not find their bearings in the second half when the team took a 77-67 loss to the Lincoln (Pa.) Lady Lions (7-1, 2-0 CIAA), Monday evening. After holding an impressive 43-27 halftime lead, the Rams were outscored, 50-24 in the second half to take the tough loss.
  • Rams Take a Heartbreaking 57-53 Loss to Bowie State in CIAA Opener

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (3-3, 0-1 CIAA) played a terrific game for 39 minutes, but the final minute proved to be the difference when the Rams took a 57-53 loss to the Bowie State Bulldogs, Saturday afternoon. The Rams controlled the game until the final minute when the team took the hard-fought loss.

    WEST VIRGINIA, WVA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (3-2) gave a strong effort, but the team fell short in a 79-69 road loss to the West Liberty State Hilltoppers (3-1), Wednesday evening. The Rams looked strong in the first half, but the team allowed a big second half to the Hilltoppers that proved to be the difference in the game.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (2-1) put on a great show for the hometown crowd when the team took an 84-51 win over the Converse Valkyries (1-2), Tuesday evening. The Rams broke out for a big second half performance to claim the victory in their first game in the friendly confines of the C.E. Gaines Center.

After struggling to score yesterday, the Rams bounced back with 89 points in today's win.

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams women’s basketball team will have a chip on their shoulders when they take the court this fall as the team was picked to finish seventh overall and third in their division in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Predicted Order of Finish. Rams sophomore guard Amaya Tucker will look to lead the way as she was named to the 2019 CIAA Preseason All-Conference team.
