CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams women's basketball team will have a chip on their shoulders when they take the court this fall as the team was picked to finish seventh overall and third in their division in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Predicted Order of Finish. Rams sophomore guard Amaya Tucker will look to lead the way as she was named to the 2019 CIAA Preseason All-Conference team.
The Winston-Salem State Rams earned the selection after a solid performance during the 2018-19 season. Last season, the Rams finished with a 15-14 overall record and an 11-7 record in CIAA play. The team finished the season ranked third in the CIAA Southern Division. The team will return 10 players from that team and will look to outperform their prediction.
Leading the way for the Rams will be sophomore guard Amaya Tucker. She was named to the CIAA Preseason All-Conference team after finishing last season as the seventh leading scorer in the CIAA. She averaged 15.9 points per game and she ranked third in the CIAA with 72 three-pointers made.
The Winston-Salem State Rams will open the 2019-20 season on November 9th when they head to Institute, West Virginia to take on the Notre-Dame of Ohio Falcons.
