WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (22-20) could not quite overcome some struggles when the team took a 17-1 loss to the Pfeiffer Falcons (30-15), Monday afternoon. The Rams were plagued by fielding errors and hitting struggles in the game as the Rams finished with two hits and six fielding errors in the loss.
The Rams struggled mightily in the game, totaling just one run on two hits in the game. WSSU junior shortstop Idaysa Quinones and freshman first base Mesha Jones recorded the only hits in the game for the Rams. Quinones also recorded the only run scored in the game.
The Rams' sole score came in the fourth inning when a Quinones triple was followed by a score on a passed ball.
WSSU junior Mercedes Hargett (14-11) took the pitching loss, going 4.1 innings with 11 runs allowed (four earned) on nine hits. Hargett also added three strikeouts on three walks. Fellow junior Chyna Riley earned the start with a 0.2 innings and six runs (one earned) allowed on five hits.
