CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (2-4, 2-1 CIAA) kept up their winning ways when the team took a 6-0 win over the Elizabeth City State Vikings (0-4, 0-3 CIAA) at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round Up. The win marked the second straight CIAA win for the Rams who also claimed a road win at Livingstone, Thursday.
The Rams opened the match with three straight wins in doubles play. The duo of senior Tay'lor Champion and junior Avion Harris took an 8-0 win at #2 doubles before freshman Kyra Akande and sophomore Cylah Gaither took an 8-2 win at #3 doubles and senior China Brown and freshman Kyrsten Jenelle claimed an 8-2 win at #1 singles.
With their momentum high, the Rams needed just two singles wins to claim the match victory. Instead, the team took three. Harris took a 6-0, 6-1 win at #3 singles before Champion claimed a win at #1 singles and Brown ended the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win at #2 singles.
