WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams indoor track & field team was back in action, Sunday when the team took part in the third annual Winston-Salem State University Open at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Lady Rams had some strong efforts on the opening day of the two-day indoor track & field meet, Sunday.
Lady Rams junior sprinter Raven Covington led the way in the meet with a third-place finish in the women's 60m dash. She kicked off the day with a 7.64 in the preliminaries of the event and followed the effort with a 7.61 in the event finals to finish third. WSSU junior distance runner Danisha Wiggins also had a great day when she placed fourth in the women's 1-mile run. She posted a 5:43.91 in the event.
The Lady Rams also had some great performances in the field events at the meet. WSSU junior jumper Tajanel McNeill led the way with a third place finish in the women's high jump. She recorded a 5'1.75" (1.57m) leap in the meet. She also had a fourth place finish in the women's long jump with an 18'2.25"(5.54m) jump as well. Junior thrower Duvona Dula also had a strong day when she placed seventh in the women's weight throw with a 46'8" (14.22m) throw.
