BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams had another great day when the team took part in the 2015 Emory Crossplex Invitational, Sunday. The Lady Rams finished the meet with 57.50 points to place fourth in the team standings at the meet. Among the great team effort, the Lady Rams also had several great individual performances at the meet.
The Lady Rams' 4x400m relay team highlighted the meet for the team when they won the event with a 3:55.62. The Lady Rams took the win over relay teams from Benedict, host Emory, and Clayton State. In addition to the strong performance in the relay, the Lady Rams also saw a great performance from junior sprinter Raven Covington, who recorded a 7.53 in the event. She and the other top finishers all broke the meet record. The effort was also an NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field provisional qualifying time. Senior sprinter Nya Michaux also had a great day when she placed fifth in the women's 60m dash with a 7.84. Michaux was not done as she placed third in the women's 200m dash with a 25.21 in the event. Senior hurdler Tajanel McNeill also had a great day when she finished fourth in the women's 60m hurdles with a 9.22.
The Lady Rams will return to action next weekend when the team takes part in the Hilton Garden Invitational at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
