CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams closed out the 2015 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Outdoor Women's Track & Field Championship Meet with some great efforts and ended the day in second place at the meet. The runners-up finish came on the heels of spectacular individual performances at the meet that left the team with 161 total points.
Sophomore Raven Hamilton led the way for the Lady Rams when she won the women's 800m run with a 2:12.34. Sophomore Tametris Morrison also had a great day with a second place finish in the women's 400m hurdles. She ran a 1:00.11 to place second in the event. The Lady Rams' 4x100m relay also had a great day with a second place finish in the event and a time of 45.72.
While the Lady Rams had some solid performances on the track, it was in field events that the team saw its top performances. Freshman Cheyenne Gloster added a second place finish in the women's discus throw with a 125'03" (38.17m) throw. Still, senior Tajanel McNeil led the way for the Lady Rams. She won the women's triple jump with a 41'01.50" (12.53m) jump. She also placed third in the women's high jump with a 5'04.25" (1.63m) leap.
With the team's 161 points, the Lady Rams placed second in the meet behind 178 points by Saint Augustine's. The Lady Rams won't have long to recover as the team will head to Philadelphia, Pa. to take part in The Penn Relays.
