LYNCHBURG, VA – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams track & field team continued their terrific season when the team had some great efforts at the 2015 Liberty Twilight Qualifier. The Lady Rams saw some improvements in a number of events as student-athletes make their case for spots in the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
The Lady Rams had some stellar performances on the track with senior sprinter Nya Michaux leading the way. She placed second in the women's 100m dash with an 11.78, a personal record and the second-best time in school history in the event. She returned to the track with a stellar performance in the women's 200m dash when she recorded a 24.25 to place third. Sophomore Ty-Leah Hampton added a fourth-placed finish with a 24.47. Both times were 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship provisional qualifying times. Sophomore Tametris Morrison had another provision qualifying time with a third place finish in the women's 400m hurdles. She recorded a 1:01.24 in the event. Freshman Domtilla Kiplaget recorded a second place finish in the women's 3000m steeplechase at 11:21.43.
In field events, WSSU senior Tajanel McNeil continued her strong career when she placed second in the women's long jump with a 19' 1.5" (5.83m) leap. She also added a second place finish in the women's triple jump with a 41'8.75" (12.72m).
