Rams Relays Take Two First Places at JDL Collegiate Kick Off Classic

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams women's indoor track & field team returned to action this weekend when the team competed in the 2015 JDL Collegiate Kick Off Classic, Saturday at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Though just in their second action of the season, the Rams looked in good form before the break.

The Rams' relay teams highlighted the day as the team took first place in the women's 4x800m relay with a 9:33.0 while the women's 4x400m relay team also took first place with a 3:58.04.

Individually, the Rams also had some strong performances as well. After qualifying for the finals of the women's 60m dash, WSSU senior Raven Covington placed 3rd in the event finals with a 7.58, an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time. Sophomore Domtilla Kiplagat placed third in the women's 1-Mile run with a 5:24.18.  

Following the meet, the Rams will turn their attentions to the classroom for final exams and the semester break. The team will return to action in 2016 when the team returns to the JDL Fast Track to take part in the 2016 Wake Forest Open.
