Covington Places 9th in 60m Preliminaries at 2016 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet

PITTSBURG, KS - Winston-Salem State senior sprinter Raven Covington placed 9th in the 60m dash preliminaries at the 2016 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships, Friday afternoon. With her ninth place finish, she failed to qualify for the event finals by the narrowest of margins.

Covington ran a 7.52, her best time of the season, to place third in the first heat of the event and ninth overall. Her time was .01 second behind the eighth placed finish in the event. With the ninth-place finish, she did not qualify for the event finals with only the top eight advancing.

The event completes the 2016 indoor track & field season for the Rams. The team will return to action, Friday when they take part in the 2016 Wake Forest Open at Kentner Stadium on the campus of Winston-Salem State University.
