LYNCHBURG, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams track & field teams are making a final push towards the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet when the team had some strong performances at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier. The Rams saw quite a few provisional qualifying results in their efforts to qualify for the championship meet.
WSSU junior Fawzia Kheir was one of several Rams to post some strong showings at the meet. Kheir led the way when she place third in the women's 800m run with a 2:10.10, an NCAA Division II Provisional qualifying time. Fellow junior Taska Johnson was also impressive when she placed fourth with a 2:13.71, also a qualifying time. Sophomore Ty-Leah Hampton continued her strong season when she placed sixth in the women's 200m dash with a qualifying time of 24.32. The Rams' 4x400m relay team also had a great day when they won the event with a 3:51.84.
