Hampton Wins Women's 200m Dash at JDL College Kick Off

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams women's indoor track & field team got the 2016-17 season started in a big way with some strong performances at the 2016 JDL College Kick Off, Saturday at the JDL Fast Track. The Rams saw some impressive performances in their first collegiate meet of the season. 

WSSU senior sprinter Ty-Leah Hampton led some strong efforts in the running events for the Rams. She won the women's 200m dash with a 25.49 in the event, edging out a familiar face, Rams alumnae sprinter Nya Michaux. Junior Domtilla Kiplagat added a solid performance in the women's 3000m run when she placed seventh in the event with a 10:52.76.

Senior Lyssa Wallace-O'Neal led the way for the Rams in field events on the day as well. She placed ninth in the women's shot put with a 38'11.75" (11.88m) throw.

The Rams will get a much deserved break from action. The team will return to competition, Saturday, January 24th when the team heads to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take part in the Art & Linda Maillette Open.
