INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The work isn't done yet for Winston-Salem State senior sprinter Ty-Leah Hampton as she was selected to compete in the 2017 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships. She will be one of 270 competitors selected to compete for the highest stakes in the nation.
Hampton earned the selection after a stellar season. She finished the season with the top 200m dash time in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region when she ran a 24.37 at the 2017 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships. For her efforts, she was named to the 2017 United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team, Monday afternoon. She was one of six Rams to earn all-region honors. This season will mark the first trip to the indoor national championship meet for Hampton, but she has made multiple trips to the outdoor track & field national championships.
The 2017 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships will be held on March 9-11 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama. The preliminaries of the women's 200m dash will be held Friday, March 10th at 5:00 p.m.
