BIRMINGHAM, AL – The stage doesn't get much bigger for Winston-Salem State senior sprinter Ty-Leah Hampton as she is set to compete in the 2017 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex this weekend. She will be one of 270 student-athletes vying for national championships.
Hampton qualified for the national championship meet after a stellar senior season. She earned her spot in the national championship meet when she ran a personal best 24.37 at the 2017 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet. Her time was the 11th best in the nation this season and the top time in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region.
The women's 200m dash at the national championship will begin at 5:00 p.m., Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama. Hampton will compete in the fifth heat of the event. Links to live video and live results are available at www.WSSURams.com.
