HIGH POINT, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams outdoor track & field team opened the 2017 outdoor season with some promising performances at the Bill Webb/Bob Davidson Spring Kick Off hosted by High Point University. Competing in their first outdoor meet of the season, the Rams showed a lot of potential against some top-notch competition, Friday.
The team saw some impressive performances, especially in the team's sprint events. Freshman Keyona Johnson had a solid performance in the women's 400m dash with a 59.27 to place 19th in the event preliminaries. Senior Taska Johnson also had a strong performance in the women's 1500m run with a 5:06.04. Senior Rachel Bonham pulled double duty for a great day. She placed 17th in the women's 100m hurdles with a 15.33 and she also tied for eighth in the women's high jump with a 4'11" (1.55m) leap.
