PITTSBURG, KA – Winston-Salem State junior sprinter Ma'Kyia Gayden finished the 2019 indoor track & field season ranked among the best in the nation when she finished fourth in the finals of the women's 60m dash a the the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet, Saturday evening.
She ran a career-best time of 7.49 in the event to rank fourth in the event. With the finish she cemented her spot as the top 60m sprinter in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region and she ranks among the best in the nation.
Gayden's finish was the best finish for a Winston-Salem State Ram since 2015 when former Ram Raven Covington placed second in the event.
The performance closes the indoor track & field season for the Rams and the rest of the nation. The Rams will return to action during the outdoor track & field season when the team takes part in the VertKlass Meeting hosted by High Point University on March 22nd.
