MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams had some impressive performances at the 2019 Mount Olive First Chance & Multis Track & Field Meet, Saturday. Though competing with a smaller squad, the Rams continued to put on some impressive performances at the meet.
It was in the hurdles and relay events that the Rams would make their mark at the meet. Individually, the sophomore duo of Amique Willis and Victoria Porter both had some great efforts in the women's 400m hurdles. Willis placed second with a 1:01.92, an NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Provisional qualifying time, while Porter added a third place finish with a 1:02.70. From there, it was the Rams' relay teams that had the impressive performances as the WSSU 4x100m relay team placed fifth at the meet with a 46.59. The time was also an NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Provisional qualifying time. The Rams 4x400m relay team also put on a good performance with a third place finish. The team recorded a 3:47.75.
The effort completes the regular season for the Rams and the team will now await selections for the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet.
