CHARLOTTE, NC – It didn't take long for the honors to come in for Winston-Salem State senior printer Cierra Thompson. On Tuesday morning, she was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Food Lion Women's Track Athlete of the Week. She earned the honor after a great performance at the Clemson Opener, the first indoor track & field meet of the season.
Thompson took the honor after a great showing in the women's 60m dash at the meet. She placed second in the event with a 7.54 at the meet. The time was an NCAA Division II Indoor provisional qualifying time and currently ranks fourth in the nation. She also had a strong showing in the women's 200m dash at the meet when she ran a 25.35 in the women's 200m dash.
Thompson and the rest of the Rams will get a break to focus on final exams and to celebrate the holidays as the team will not return to action until January 17th when the team returns to Clemson, S.C. to take part in the Clemson Invitational.
