Cobb, Wallace Earn CIAA Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, NC – After a great performance last week, the Winston-Salem State Rams earned a pair of honors from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). WSSU senior outside hitter Ytae Cobb was named the CIAA Offensive Player of the Week while sophomore libero Myra Wallace was named the CIAA Defensive Player of the Week. The honors came after the Rams went a perfect 5-0 during the week, including winning five CIAA matches.

Cobb took the winner by leading the Rams' offensive attack. For the week, she totaled 43 kills with seven service aces. She scored 13 kills apiece in matches against Saint Augustine's and Claflin. Defensively, she added 13 digs as well.

With Cobb propelling the WSSU offense, it was Wallace who drove the defense. For the week, she totaled 72 digs in the match. She recorded a week-high 24 digs in a four-set win over Elizabeth City State.

The Rams will return to action, tomorrow when the team hosts the Shaw Lady Bears in a 6:00 p.m. match. For more information on Rams volleyball, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
