WINSTON-SALEM, NC – After another successful season, the Winston-Salem State Rams had three players named to the 2019 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball All-Conference Team. Senior middle hitter Ytae Cobb was a first team All-CIAA selection while junior right side hitter Danyale Berry and sophomore setter Rylee Wilson both earned second team All-CIAA selections.
Cobb earned the selection after finishing the season as one of the top offensive players in the conference. She finished the regular season ranked fifth in the CIAA with 201 kills along with 23 service aces. She also ranked third in the CIAA with 56 total blocks (12 solo). The honor marks the second straight season with an all-conference selection for Cobb. Her best match came against Claflin when she recorded a season-high 16 kills.
Berry also earned her second straight All-CIAA selection when she was a second-team All-CIAA selection. She earned the spot after finishing the regular season with 82 kills and 13 blocks (one solo). She also added 10 service aces.
The selection marks the first time for Wilson. She finished the 2019 regular season as the CIAA leader with 708 assists this season. She also added 39 total blocks (six solo) during the season.
The trio will look to lead the Rams in the 2019 CIAA Volleyball Championship Tournament. The Rams will open the tournament as the third-seed from the CIAA Southern Division.
