FSU Broncos Run Past WSSU Rams 82-75 At Joel Annex

Jan. 31, 2006

Final Stats

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Rams dropped their second consecutive game on Tuesday evening at the Joel Coliseum Annex as Fayetteville State was too much for WSSU as the Broncos earned an 82-75 CIAA league victory to drop WSSU to 12-7 overall (6-4 CIAA, 2-2 CIAA West).

The first half saw the Rams trail by as many as nine points before a late WSSU run cut the halftime deficit to only two points on a Corey Parker coast-to-coast lay-up as time expired in the first half.

The Broncos came out of the locker room in the second half and did seemingly everything right en route to the win.

Fayetteville State University shot 56.8% from the field, shot 76.7% from the free throw line and hit 54.5% of their three-point field goals in the win.

WSSU's All-CIAA performers Alleggrie Guinn and Audly Wehner each turned in stellar performances in the loss as Guinn tallied a game-high 26 points, 10 assists and four rebounds while Wehner recorded 23 points, three rebounds and a steal.

The Broncos were led by Justin Harris and Nathan Ody who each scored 14 points in the victory.

The Rams return to action on Thursday evening, February 2, 2006 at 7:30 pm as they travel to Jacksonville, FL to face Edward Waters in a non-conference men's basketball contest.

WSSU will resume CIAA league play on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 7:30 pm as they travel to Durham, NC to face their CIAA rival, the Eagles of North Carolina Central University, in an important CIAA Western Division league contest.
