WINSTON-SALEM STATE UNIVERSITY
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
What is SAAC
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a group of student-athletes who provide insight on the student-athlete experience and offer input on rules, regulations, and policies that affect student-athletes at NCAA member institutions. SAACs exist at campus, conference, and national levels so student voices can influence local decisions and national legislation.
Purpose
SAAC exists to ensure student-athletes are heard and represented. Its core purposes include generating a student-athlete voice within the institution, soliciting and responding to proposed NCAA legislation, proposing potential legislation, organizing community service, and creating representation on campus and conference committees.
Mission & Guiding Principles
Mission:Â To enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting well-being, and fostering a positive student-athlete image.Â
Guiding principles: Ethics, integrity, fairness, and respect for diversity—including attention to gender, ethnicity, and sport—guide all SAAC work.
WSSU On-Campus SAAC — Our Role
WSSU's SAAC connects campus, CIAA, and national SAACs so student-athletes can shape intercollegiate athletics from the ground up. The campus committee serves as the local voice for student-athlete well-being, facilitates cross-team communication, and acts as a conduit between student-athletes, coaches, and administrators to identify concerns and propose solutions.
