GAFFNEY, SC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams (0-0) will get the 2010 season underway this weekend when the team takes part in the 2010 Limestone Labor Day Invitational hosted by Limestone College. The Lady Rams will look to get the 2010 season started with a bang when they take part in the two-day event.
Under the guidance of a new coaching staff and making a return to Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) this season, the Lady Rams will open the season against the Mars Hill Lions. After three straight four-win seasons, the Lady Rams will look to get a strong start to 2010 campaign.
Leading the way for the Rams will be an experienced group of seniors as outside hitter Ashley Harris will lead the team's eight returnees and two newcomers this season. Last season, Harris recorded 268 kills and was ranked second on the team in that category. She will look to keep up her strong play this season.
The Lady Rams will face a Mars Hill Lions team that is also opening their season and finished with an 11-16 record last season. They return both of their top hitters from last season and could pose a challenge for the Lady Rams.
The Lady Rams are scheduled for a 3;00 p.m. match-up with the Lions at the Timken Center in Gaffney, South Carolina. For more information on Lady Rams volleyball, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2909 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
