Lady Rams Returning Home to face Chowan

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - After four straight road games, the Winston-Salem State (7-4, 2-1 CIAA) Lady Rams will get a warm welcome when the team hosts the Chowan Lady Hawks (4-6, 1-1 CIAA), Thursday evening. The Lady Rams look to bounce back after having their three-game win streak snapped at Bowie State, Monday. Back-to-back home games could be just what the team needs in order to get back on the winning track.

The Lady Rams are coming into this game looking to jump back on the winning side of things after suffering a 62-49 loss to Bowie State, Monday evening. The Lady Rams struggled to keep the game close cold shooting night left the Lady Rams with their first conference loss of the season. The team will look to rekindle their offensive flame when they return to home court. Junior guard Courtney Medley, the reigning CIAA Player of the Week will look to drive the WSSU offense. Current CIAA Newcomer of the Week Jasmine Newkirk will also look to put points on the board. The two players currently lead the WSSU scoring efforts with a combined 27.0 points per game.

The visiting Chowan Lady Hawks have had and up and down start to their season with a (4-6, 1-1 CIAA) record. The Lady Hawks are coming off their first conference win of the season as they defeated the defending CIAA champion Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State 56-50, Saturday evening. The Lady Hawks are currently ranked on the bottom half of the CIAA in scoring, averaging 57.2 points per game, but have been able to hold their opponents to only 57.6 points. Chowan Lady Hawks will look to junior Ransheda Jennings, who averages 14.2 points per game, to lead their attack Thursday evening.
