HAMPTON, VA – The Winston-Salem Lady Rams (4-7, 4-2 CIAA) capped the 2011 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Round-Up on a high note with their fourth straight win, defeating the Bowie State Lady Bulldogs in three sets. The Lady Rams gave one of their top defensive efforts of the season to pick up the win as they held the Bulldogs to just 19 kills and forced 18 attack errors in the match.
While the team had a stellar defensive effort, the team's offense was also impressive. As a team, the Lady Rams totaled 35 kills on 88 total attacks. Freshman outside hitter Darissa Jones led the way for the Lady Rams with a team-best nine kills in the match. Fellow freshman Brittany Rich added seven kills as well. Rich also added four service aces in the match. Freshman setter Kayla Brass recorded a career-high 18 assists in the match.
