MISENHEIMER, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (0-7) could not get much past the tough Catawba Indians (2-3) in a three-set loss on the second day of the 2012 Pfeiffer Invitational, Saturday morning. The Lady Rams gave a solid effort in the match, but the Indians defense was just too tough to crack as WSSU took the loss, 25-11, 25-10, and 25-13.
As a team, the Lady Rams totaled just 11 kills on 80 attacks in the match. WSSU senior Francesca Edgerton recorded a team-high four kills in the match while junior hitter Katelyn Sigala added three. Adding to the team's struggles were 12 receiving errors in the match as well.
The Lady Rams will close out the two-day event with a 1:00 p.m. match against Lenoir-Rhyne. The Lady Rams will open conference play at Fayetteville State, Monday evening.
