HAMPTON, VA - Winston-Salem State University junior guard, Javan Wells, has been named CIAA Men's Newcomer of the Week for his performances last weekend for the Rams in the Fresh Coast Classic, played in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Wells had a breakout weekend for the WSSU Rams, as he exploded for 49 points over two games (24.5 ppg avg), including a 33 point, two rebound, and three steal outburst versus Clark-Atlanta in the 2013 Fresh Coast Classic played in Milwaukee, Wis. He came back the next night with 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists versus Lane College, in WSSU's 1-1 week. 

Winston-Salem State fell to Clark Atlanta on Friday night, 89-81, before bouncing back on Saturday with a 99-96 overtime win over Lane College.
