Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Winston-Salem State University baseball players Travis Moore and Aaron Jones, along with head coach Kevin Ritsche, picked up weekly CIAA honors as announced by the Conference office.
Travis Moore (SR, OF, L/L, Greensboro, NC ) was named CIAA Player of the Week after a monster week for the Rams of Winston-Salem State. He batted an astonishing .667, going 16 for 24 with 12 runs scored, three doubles, one triple and six RBI's. Moore also stole 11 out of 11 bases and had a slugging percentage of .875.
Moore's teammate, Aaron Jones (SR, 1B, L/L, Kernersville, NC) was named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week after a solid week for Winston-Salem State at first base, as he hit for a .438 clip, with 4 RBI's, three doubles and one stolen base; while having 28 putouts with no errors.
WSSU's head coach, Kevin Ritsche, was named CIAA Coach of the Week after he led the Rams to a 5-0 week, with blowout wins over Clark-Atlanta, Morehouse and Lincoln (Pa). The Rams are now 20-6 overall and remain the only team from the CIAA ranked in the Atlantic Region (10th).
