Box Score HAMPTON, VA - The Winston-Salem State baseball program keeps raking in the honors, as this week German Reyes, Rafael Gonzalez and head coach Kevin Ritsche picked up CIAA Baseball honors for the team's success last week.
German Reyes was selected as CIAA Player of the Week for helping lead the WSSU Rams to a 4-0 week last week. Reyes continues to swing a hot bat for the WSSU Rams and it continued last week as he led the Rams with a .438 average, going seven for 16 with one home run and 10 runs batted in. His top game was against St. Andrews where he went three for five with a homerun and a rbi. The WSSU Rams went 4-0 on the week.
Rafael Gonzalez was tabbed as this week's CIAA Defensive Player of the Week. Gonzalez had a strong week for the WSSU Rams defensively, as he had six putouts and 12 assists in 18 attempts with no errors in WSSU's 4-0 week. Gonzalez also hit .33, going five for 15 with a double.
WSSU head coach Kevin Ritsche continues to lead a hot team as the Rams sit atop the CIAA standings with a 14-1 CIAA record, and 31-8 overall.
