Box Score RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (7-7, 7-2 CIAA) picked up their third straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) victory, Thursday when the team rolled to a three-set road win over the Shaw Lady Bears (0-11, 0-9 CIAA). The Lady Rams controlled the entire match and took the three sets, 25-13, 25-17, and 25-10.
The Lady Rams took their third win behind some strong play both on offense and on defense. As a team, the Lady Rams totaled 35 kills with just 12 attack errors while holding the Lady Bears to just 17 kills. The Lady Rams also benefitted from 25 Shaw attack errors. Defensively, the Lady Rams added eight total blocks (none solo).
WSSU senior middle blocker Chelsea Violenes led the way for the Lady Rams with seven kills and just one attack error while junior right side hitter also added seven kills with just two attack errors. Owens also added three block assists while Violenes added two block assists. Defensively, freshman Sydney Holland totaled a team-high 14 digs while senior setter Kayla Brass recorded a double-double with 27 assists and 12 digs. She also added three service aces.
