CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (5-7, 5-2 CIAA) returned to form when they rolled to an impressive three-set win over the Elizabeth City State Vikings (4-9, 4-4 CIAA) at the 2014 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Round-Up. After taking a five-set loss to Virginia State to open the day, the Lady Rams bounced back in a big way with an impressive three-set win over Elizabeth City State. The Lady Rams controlled the entire match as they didn't allow the Vikings to get more than 20 points in any set of the match and rolled to the win, 25-19, 25-16, and 25-15.

As a team, the Lady Rams dominated the match with 41 kills and only 10 attack errors. While the WSSU offense was impressive, it was the team's defensive effort that stole the show. The Lady Rams allowed just 16 ECSU kills in the match and also benefitted from 12 Viking attack errors. The Lady Rams also totaled eight service aces. WSSU junior right side hitter Olivia Owens led the way for the Lady Rams with 10 kills, three service aces, and four total blocks (two solo). Freshman Jasmine Smith continued her stellar week when she led the Lady Rams with 12 kills and no attack errors. Freshman libero Haley Miller also added nine digs as well.

With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 5-7 on the season and an impressive 5-2 in CIAA play. The team will close out the round-up when they take on the Chowan Hawks in an 11:00 a.m. match, tomorrow.
