Rams Score Four Unanswered Runs for 4-3 Win Over Post Eagles

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (4-4) staged a late rally to claim their third straight victory when the team took a 4-3 win over the Post Eagles (0-3), Monday afternoon. After falling behind by as many as three runs, the Rams scored four unanswered runs to claim the win.

The Rams took a win after a great overall effort in the game. As a team, the Rams totaled eight hits in the game. Freshman shortstop Wellington Guzman led the way with a two-for-three efforts with two runs batted in (RBI) and a double in the game while six other Rams added singles each.

Things got tough early fell behind early against the Eagles. The Rams allowed a first inning run to the Eagles along with two third inning runs. The Rams answered in the bottom of the third inning when Guzman hit a two RBI single that scored Brandon Ford and senior outfielder Randy Norris. The Rams added to their barrage in the fourth inning when Brandon Nania scored on an Eagles passed ball to tie the game. The Rams took the lead in the sixth inning when Nick Williams reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Snider to score what turned out to be the game-winning run. From there, defense ruled the day with neither team scoring for the remainder of the contest as the Rams held on for their third straight win.

WSSU's Cole Parks took the pitching win, going 4.2 innings with no runs allowed on just three hits. He also added five strikeouts. Tomas Goco got the start for the day, going 4.1 innings with three runs allowed (three earned). He allowed just six hits with six strikeouts.

With the win, the Rams improve to 4-4 for the season. The Rams will return to action tomorrow when the team hits the road for its first road game when the team heads to Wilson, N.C. to take on the Barton Bulldogs.
