WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (16-8) struggled to find their way in an 8-3 loss to the Lock Haven Bald Eagles (5-6-1), Sunday afternoon. Fielding errors and some hitting struggles cost the Rams in the hard-fought loss.

The Rams had a hard time getting their offense going in the tough loss. As a team, the Rams totaled just five hits in the game. The team's struggles were compounded by three costly fielding errors as well. Redshirt-freshman shortstop Kendal Tucker led the way for the Rams as he went two-for-two at the plate with two RBI. He was the only Ram with multiple hits in the game.

Things got tough early for the Rams as the team allowed eight unanswered runs to the Bald Eagles in the first six innings of play. The Rams allowed an opening inning run that was followed by six third-inning runs. The Rams also allowed a sixth-inning run. The Rams answered in the sixth inning when a steal by redshirt-sophomore E.P. Reese forced a Lock Haven throwing error that allowed him to score. Tucker followed the effort with a two-RBI single. However, the Rams would not get another score as they finished the game with the tough loss.

WSSU freshman Avery Cain (2-2) took the pitching loss. He started the game and he allowed five runs (two earned) in the loss. Senior Tomas Goco came in for 2.1 innings and he had no runs allowed on no hits with four strikeouts.
