LINCOLN, PA – The Winston-Salem State University Rams (13-8, 10-2 CIAA) continue to click on all cylinders when the team took an 80-67 road win over the Lincoln (Pa.) Lions (7-17, 3-8 CIAA), Monday evening. The Rams took the win behind a great defensive effort and some solid offense.

As a team, the Rams put on one of their top overall performances of the season. The Rams shot a combined 41.2% (28-of-68) from the floor. WSSU senior guard Robert Colon led the way for the Rams with 28 points in the game. Fellow senior guard Julius Barnes added 14 points while sophomore guard Jonathan Hicklin added 11 points.

The Rams opened the game with a big first half effort. The team outscored the Lions 49-32 in the opening period. WSSU led the Lions by as many as 22 points, 38-16 after a Barnes three-pointer with 7:29 left in the opening half. From there, the team cruised into halftime with a 49-32 lead.

In the second half, the Rams had to fend off a strong comeback effort by the Lions. The team was up to the task Midway through the half, the Rams allowed the Lions to cut the WSSU lead down to 12 points, 64-52. However, the team would hold off the hard-charging Lions in the final minutes of the game. WSSU allowed the Lions cut their lead down to as few as five points, 66-61, before a pair of Hicklin free throws with 4:05 left to play gave the team a lift. From there, the Rams went on an 11-0 run to take a 77-61 lead with just over a minute left to play. From there, the Rams turned to their defense to clamp down for the 80-67 victory.

With the win, the Rams improve to 13-8 overall and 10-2 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to the road for their next action when the team heads to Raleigh, N.C. to take on the Saint Augustine's Falcons.
