Men’s Basketball to Host Carolina University for Home Opener

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team will host Carolina University tomorrow, Tuesday, November 22nd inside the C.E. Gaines Center.

Last Time Out
The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team defeated Jefferson University 76-43 in the Harlem Renaissance Classic on Saturday, November 19th. Samage Teel scored 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting and also had three assists and two steals. Isaac Parson added 14 points and five rebounds. Also scoring in double figures was Jonathan Hicklin with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Jaylen Alston was named MVP of game one of the Harlem Renaissance Classic after finishing with eight points, 13 rebounds, and two assists in his 32 minutes of action.

Ram Returners
The Rams will bring back ten returners from last year's team, sophomores, Stefon Mcleod, Abnar Muhammad, Ralph Bland, redshirt sophomores Samage Teel, and Isaac Parson, junior Jaylen Alston, and seniors Jonathan Hicklin, Xavier Fennell, DyQuavis Wilkins, and Jaylin Parker.

Ram Newcomers:
The Rams welcomed freshman Jeremy Dixon, Jarius Northam, Ketron "KC" Shaw, junior Jaylon Gibson, and graduate student Nathan Springs during the off-season.

CIAA Preseason:
Jonathan Hicklin and Isaac Parson were named to the All-CIAA preseason team Backcourt and Nathan Springs was named to the All-CIAA Frontcourt team. Overall, the Rams were selected to finish third in the season and second in the Southern Division.

Atlantic Region Poll
Week two of the Atlantic Region poll came out and the rams are tied for ninth in the latest poll.

Scouting Report
The Rams lead the series 1-0 over the Bruins after defeating them 63-47 on November 19, 2021.
Carolina University defeated Virginia University of Lynchburg 94-84 on Saturday, November 19th. Cameron Buchanan led all scorers with 25 points followed by Amarie Elijah-Kirby who dished in 24 points along with 16 rebounds. Micah Cooper also scored in double figures with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Up Next
The Rams will travel to Erie, Pennsylvania to play in the Gary Miller Classic. The first game is scheduled for Friday, November 25th at 5:30 p.m. against Le Moyne College.
