GLEN ALLEN, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University softball team's tremendous season came to an end Saturday afternoon at RF&P Park after falling to Claflin 3-1 in the semifinals of the CIAA championships.
The Rams finished the season 21-14 overall.
Claflin took an early 2-0 lead after two innings. They later added a run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 3-0 lead. The Rams tried to rally back in the top of the seventh, adding a run to come within two but it was not enough as the Panthers won the game 3-1.
Julie Manners finishes the season 3-3 after pitching 2.0 innings with two strikeouts.
Sierra Crocker pitched 4.0 innings with one strikeout.
At the end of the tournament, the CIAA All-Tournament team was named which included the Rookie of the Year
Aniyah Jackson and
Sierra Crocker.
