WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University football team will travel to Richmond, Virginia to take on the Panthers of Virginia Union University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Hovey Field.

Last Time Out vs. Bowie State 
The Rams defeated the Bulldogs 28-14, on Saturday, September 28th, 2024. Daylin Lee went 13-25 for 188 yards and three passing touchdowns. Jaylen Grimes had four catches for 79 yards, with a 65-yard touchdown reception. Defensively, Dante Bowlding had a big game with seven tackles. 

Last Time Out Virginia Union vs Shaw University 
The Panthers defeated Shaw University 42-7, on Saturday, September 28th, 2024. Mark Wright passed for 19-24 for 294 with four passing touchdowns. Jada Byers on 20 carries rushed for 175 yards. Reginald Vick Jr. had seven receptions for 154 for two touchdowns. Zachary Weaver had seven tackles for the Panthers. 

Last Time Out WSSU vs. Virginia Union 
The Rams fell to Virginia State 16-15 on September 28th, 2019. Dominique Graves went 12-18 for 145 yards. 

CIAA Weekly Awards 
  • Justin Fleming was named Defensive Back of the Week for Week one. Fleming had 14 tackles with 11 being 11 being solo tackles.
  • Trevon Hester was named Running Back Player of the Week, while teammate Jamieson Alston was named Linebacker of the Week for Week two.
  • For a consecutive week, Trevon Hester was named Running Back Player of the Week for week three, while Keith Quick was named Offensive Lineman of the Week for week three, and Gilberto Lorenzana was named Special Teams Player of the Week. 
  • Dante Bowlding was named CIAA Defensive Back of the Week for week four. Bowlding recorded seven total tackles, (five solo), and also recorded two assists, 1.0 sack netting three yards, and an interception.
