WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.– The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team fall to Francis Marion University 77-71 in home opener. 

 The Rams moved to 0-3, (0-0 CIAA) on the season.

Micah Jones led the Rams with 16 points, Welsey Tubbs III scored 14 points, followed by Abou Camara chipping in with eight points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks.

The Rams went 24- of-64 from the field, 15-of-23 from the free-throw line, 8-of–22 from three. They scored 30 points in the paint, and the Rams grabbed 33 rebounds, 19 points off turnovers and 20 bench points.
 
How it Happened
In the first half, the Rams began the game on a 10-1 run, on a Welsey Tubbs III lay-up with 16:54 left. The Rams extended their lead to 15-5, on a Abou Camara lay-up with 12:45 left. The WSSU lead grew 23-7, on a Tyre Boykin three-pointer with 10:14 left. A Tyre Boykins three-pointer made the score 28-14 with 7:53 left. The Patriots went on a 6-3 run, cutting the lead down to 33-26 Rams with 4:42 remaining. Back-to-back Micah Jones three-pointer making the score 39-28 with 3:32 left. The Patriots cut the lead to 42-38 with 7 seconds left. The Rams took a 42-38 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Patriots cut the lead down 42-41 on a and-one. Wesley Tubbs extended the lead to 49-43 with 18:14 left. The Patriots cut the lead down to 55-53 with 13:34 left. The Patriots tied the game 55-55 with 12:12. Micah Jones answered back with a three-pointer 58-55 with 11:52 left. A Masuan Moore-Byrant three-pointer gave the Rams a 66-61 lead with 9:01 left. The Patriots went on a 13-1 run, taking a 74-67 with 1:13 remaining.
