BLUEFIELD, W.V. – The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team season came to an end against Bluefield State University as they fell 3-1 in the CIAA quarterfinals Tuesday Night.
The Rams finished the season 14-11 (11-5 CIAA).

How It Happened vs. Bluefield State University (25-20, 26-24, 25-19, 27-25)
In set one, with the score 6-5 Big Blue the Rams took an 11-5 lead with a 6-0 run on a Bluefield attack error. The Big Blue answered back with a 3-0 run, cutting the score to 11-9. WSSU went on a 4-0 run, taking a 15-9 lead on a
Lexis Tatum kill. Bluefield State went on a 4-0 run, cutting the score 18-16. The Rams took a 22-18 lead on a Bluefield State attack error and eventually took set one 25-20.
In set two, the Big Blue took a 7-3 lead. With the score 11-7 Big Blue, the Rams went on a 5-0 run, taking a 12-11 lead. Points were exchanged back and forth, and the Rams had the go-ahead lead with the score being 24-22, the Big Blue answered with four points to take set two, 26-24, and tied the match at 1-1.
Bluefield opened set three on a 3-0 run, but the Rams answered back with a run of its own taking a 5-3 lead on a kill from
Malani Martin. The Big Blue regained the lead and eventually led 20-14 then took the set 25-19 and led the match 2-1.
The Rams went down fighting keeping set four evenly matched and saw the lead change multiple times. The set was close down to the final kill which was by the Big Blue's Jannice Lynch who gave Bluefield the 27-25 score and the 3-1 match.
