AIKEN, S.C. - On Saturday afternoon, the Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker from a buzzer-beat shot to USC Aiken falling 73-71 on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams moved to 1-5 (0–0 CIAA) on the season.
Alana Biosee led the Rams with 18 points, followed by
La'Niya Simes with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Kierran Walker chipped in with 14 points and
Christiana McLean added 10 points.

Alana Biosse jumper with 2:54 remaining. A
La'Niya Simes jumper made the score 18-11 with 29 seconds remaining in the quarter. The Pacers took an 18-11 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter,
La'Niya Simes cut the lead down to 18-13, on a jumper with 9:25 remaining in the first half. The Pacers went on a 6-2 run, extending their lead to 24-15 with 7:53 left. With the score 26-18, the Rams went on a 6-0 run, making the score 26-24 on two made free-throws by
Khauri Little (3:32). The Pacers closed out the half on a 10-2 run, taking a 36-28 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Rams went on a 5-0 run, cutting the lead to 41-37 on a
Maya-Madison Walker free-throw with 4:45 on the clock.
Kierran Walker knocked down a big three-pointer, making the score 43-42 Pacers with 3:16 left. The Rams took their first lead of the game 45-43, on an
Alana Biosse and one bucket with 1:49 remaining. Another jumper from
Alana Biosse put the Rams back ahead 49-47 with 6 seconds remaining in the quarter. The game was tied 49-49 going into the fourth quarter.
The Pacers quickly jumped out to a 53-49 lead in the fourth quarter.
Sierra Hunter answered back with a jumper, making the score 53-51 with 8:46 remaining. The Pacers went on a 7-0 run, taking a 60-53 lead (5:43). The Rams answered back with an 11-0 run, giving them a 64-60 lead on a
La'Niya Simes jumper with 2:47 remaining.
Kierran Walker hit another huge three giving the Rams a 67-63 lead with 2:24 remaining in the game. The Pacers took a 71-68 lead with 30 seconds remaining. Down 71-69,
La'Niya Simes connected on two free-throws, tying the game at 71-71 with 5 seconds remaining in the game. The Pacers made a jumper at the buzzer winning 73-71.
