WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team will begin the regular season at the Trojans Tip-Off Classic, hosted by Virginia State this weekend. First, the Rams will take on Shepherd University on Friday November 8th, then, on Saturday, November 9th facing-off with Gannon University. Both games tip-off at 5:00 p.m. inside the Multipurpose Center in Petersburg, Virginia.

CIAA Preseason/Poll
Overall, the Rams were selected to finish fifth in the CIAA preseason poll.
Scouting Report
Last year Shepherd University finished (13-15, 10-12 PSAC). Shepherd University has been picked to finish fourth in the 2024-25 PSAC East Men's Basketball Preseason Poll. They are returning nine players from last year, The Rams are returning their third leading scorer, Carson Poffenberger averaging 12.2 points a game. Poffenberger scored his season-high 25 points on February 14th, 2024, against Millersville. Last season Shepherd scored 66.9 points per game.
Gannon University finished (32-3, 20-2 PSAC) last season. The Golden Knights were picked to finish third in the PSAC Western Division. The Golden Knights are currently 0-2 on the season. Gannon fell to Lake Superior State 107-87. Ernest Shelton is the Golden Knight leading scorer with 18.0 points a game. Gannon is averaging 93.0 a game.
