Men’s Basketball to Play Kentucky State in Chris Paul HBCU Tip-Off Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team will participate in the Chris Paul HBCU Tip-off Challenge in Uncasville, Connecticut on December 19-20. The Rams will take on Kentucky State University on Thursday, December 19th, tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Series Information 
This will be the first all-time meeting between the Rams and Thorobreds. 

Rams Returners:
The Rams brought back four returners from last year's team, sophomores Lance Gill, juniors Stefon McLeod, Jeremy Dixon, senior Ralph Bland
 
Ram Newcomers:
During the off-season, the Rams welcomed 11 newcomers freshman CJ Alston, Khyelle Ingram, Samuel Newkirk, Samuel Hood, redshirt freshman Masuan Moore-Byrant, sophomores Jaiden Thompson, Wesley Tubbs juniors Lorenzo Caldwell, Tyre Boykin, Abou Camara senior Micah Jones. .
 
CIAA Preseason/Poll
Overall, the Rams were selected to finish fifth in the CIAA preseason poll.

CIAA Weekly Awards
•    Khyelle Ingram was named Rookie of the Week for week 6. 

Last Time Out
The Rams fell to the University of Fort Lauderdale 90-80 on Saturday, December 14th. Micah Jones led the Rams with a game-high 20 points, followed by Welsey Tubbs III with 18 points and seven rebounds, Tyre Boykin scored 12 points and Lorenzo Caldwell chipped in with nine points and 12 rebounds. 

Scouting Report
The Rams are led in scoring by Micah Jones with 14.7 points a game, followed by Wesley Tubb III with 10.6 points. WSSU is averaging 80.0 points per game.

Kentucky State University (5-5, 3-4 SIAC)
The Thorobreds fell to Clark Atlanta 81-69 on Monday, December 16th. Montrell Jacobs leads in scoring with 15.4 points, followed by Jay Murrell with 12.9 points, and Jalon Andrews with 12.3. The Thorobreds are averaging 66.4 points a game.

The men will return to action the next day on Friday, December 20th, taking on either Lincoln (Pa.) or Benedict College in the tournament.
