WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University football team defeated the Bowie State University football team 28-14 inside the William Bill Hayes field at Bowman Grey Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The Rams improved to 4-1 (2-0 CIAA).
How it Happened
- Bowie took an early 7-0 lead after Sam Doko rushed for a touchdown.
- In the second quarter, Jayden Grimes received a 65-yard pass from Daylin Lee, and with the extra point, the Rams tied the game at 7 -7 with 11:03 to play in the half.
- Then, with 7:42 left to play in the quarter, a 2-yard rush from Trevon Hester, and the extra point gave the Rams a 14-7 lead.
- QB, Kevin Taylor had an interception pass by the Rams' Dante Bowlding at the BSU25, and Bowlding returned it for 3 yards to the BSU22.
- Andrew Bookman ended the half with a sack to help the Rams go into half-time leading, 21-7.
- Devin Cunningham had a 27-yard pass reception from Daylin Lee increasing the Rams lead 28-7 with 11:23 to play in the game.
- Avery Hall intercepted Jordan Morse pass at the Bowie State University 47 and returned for 17 yards with 4:56 left to play in the game.
- BSU had one final run in the fourth quarter, scoring seven more points but the Rams sealed the deal, winning 28-14.
