Football Hits the Road to Shaw Saturday Afternoon

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University football team will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, taking on Shaw University on Saturday, October 11th. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. inside Durham County Memorial Stadium.

Last Time Out vs Virginia Union University  

The Rams fell to the Panthers 44-34, on Saturday, October 4th. Daylin Lee went 16-32 with 278 passing yards with three passing touchdowns. Jahari Mitchell had five catches for 151 yards and three receiving touchdowns. Even Powell led with 13 total tackles. 

Last Time Out Shaw University vs. Bluefield State University  

The Bears fell to Bluefield State 35-33, on Saturday, October 4th. Alexander Marsh went 13-for-20 recording 183 passing yards and two touchdown passes. Trey Thorpe on 17 attempts rushed for 63 yards with a rushing touchdown. Jaden Perkins recorded seven total tackles.  

Last Time Out vs. Shaw University 
The Rams defeated the Bears 34-14, on Saturday, October 12th 2024. Daylin Lee went 22-for-32 for 244 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Trevon Hester rushed for 185 yards with a rushing touchdown. Noble Joyner led with nine total tackles.  

CIAA Pre-Season/Poll 

The Rams were picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll.

CIAA Pre-Season Team 

Three Rams were selected to the All CIAA Preseason Team this year.  Junior quarterback Daylin Lee along with teammates, junior tightend Devin Cunningham and senior offensive lineman Elijah Gordan. 

CIAA Weekly Award 

  • Christian Brown was named Special Team Player of the Week for week one, while Austin Pittman was named Offensive Lineman of the Week for week one. 

  • Quarterback Daylin Lee & teammates offensive lineman Zarie Falls and defensive line Christopher "CJ" Brown" all took weekly honors for week two. 

  • Davontay Deloatch was named Wide Receiver of the Week for week four, while team Jamieson "Jupe" Alston was named Linebacker of the Week for week four. 

  • Jahari Mitchell was named Wide Receiver of the Week for week five, while Evan Powell was named Defensive Back of the Week for week five.  

Up Next

The Rams will return home on Saturday, October 18th, hosting Livingstone College for Homecoming. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. inside Bowman Gray Stadium.
