Rams Conclude Regular Season with Loss to Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University football team fell to Fayetteville State 31-21 Saturday afternoon.
The Rams finished the season 4-6, 2-5 CIAA.
Inside the Numbers
  • Daylin Lee went 15-of-23 for 193 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Jayden Grimes had five receptions for 59 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Noah Marshall had five carries for 78 yards and one touchdown.
  • Ja'Quan Kelly had 12 carries for 60 yards.
  • Defense was led by Camden Martin with 12 tackles, six solo and six assists. Evan Powell had nine tackles and Jamieson Alston had 8.
How it Happened
  • Daylin Lee threw a 10-yard pass to Jayden Grimes to give the Rams a 6-0 lead, extra point was good and the Rams lead 7-0 with 9:04 to play in the first quarter.
  • FSU answered back with a touchdown run from Bryce Council with 5:51 to play in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7.
  • FSU went up 14-0 going into the second quarter after a touchdown catch from Ashely-Diarrah.
  • The Rams responded with a 71-yard run to tie the game at 14-14 with 14:11 to play in the second quarter.
  • Lee with his second pass to Grimes for a 37-yard touchdown to give the Rams a 20-14 lead, with the extra point the Rams lead 21-14 with 6:31 to play in the second quarter.
  • FSU kicked a field goal to end the first half as the Rams led 21-17.
  • The Broncos took a 24-21 lead with 8:34 to play in the third quarter.
  • FSU added seven more to start the fourth quarter, led 31-21.
  • Fayetteville sealed the game with an interception
