Men's Basketball Opens Conference Play at Bowie State Saturday, at Lincoln Monday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Rams will begin conference play traveling to Bowie, Maryland, taking on Bowie State University on December 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. inside the A.C. Jordan Arena. 

The men will then travel to Wilmington, Delaware, taking on Lincoln University (Pa.) on December 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside the Chase Fieldhouse.

Series Information vs. Bowie State 

Since 2005, the Bulldogs have led the series 10-8. Last time, the Bulldogs defeated the Rams 71-70, on February 3rd, 2025. 

Series Information vs. Lincoln (Pa.) 

Since 2011, the Rams lead the series 10-18. Last time out, the Rams fell to the Lions 58-42 in the second round of the CIAA Tournament on February 26th, 2025. 

Rams Returners:

The Rams brought back eight returners from last year's team, sophomores CJ Alston, Khyelle Ingram, Samuel Newkirk, redshirt sophomore Masaun Bryant, juniors Lance Gill and Jaiden Thompson, senior Abou Camara and redshirt senior Tyre Boykin.  

Ram Newcomers:

During the off-season the Rams welcomed seven newcomers, freshmen Bryson Cowan, Arrington Kee, sophomores Treyton "Tre" Crite, and Isaiah Sutherland, seniors Demetri Patterson and Isaish Ray and redshirt senior Ethan English.                                                          

CIAA Preseason/Poll

Overall, the Rams were selected to finish 12th in the CIAA preseason poll.

Last Time Out

The Rams defeated the University of Mount Olive 93-91 on December 1. Tyre Boykin led the Rams with a career-high 48 points, followed by  Isaiah Ray, who had 15 points, and Abou Camara had 13 points.

Scouting Report 

Tyre Boykin is the Rams' leading scorer with 24.5 points per game, followed by Abou Canara with 9.0 points per game. WSSU is averaging 73.5 points per game. 

Bowie State University (2-8 0-0 CIAA)

The Bulldogs defeated California University of Pennsylvania 73-49 on December 8. Jaiden McGhee leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 17.3 points per game, followed by Guy Fauntleroy with 12.1 points per game. Bowie State is averaging 69.4 points per game. 

Lincoln University (Pa.) (2-5, 0-0 CIAA) - Play Eckerd College (Dec. 12)

Lincoln fell to Florida Southern College 63-97 on December 10. Amadou Fall anchored the interior with an efficient 12-point performance, adding 6 rebounds and 2 blocks while battling consistently in the paint. Ginuwine Tropnas delivered one of the most active defensive outings of the night, contributing 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals as he impacted plays all over the floor.

The Lions are led in scoring by Julius Olanrewaju with 14.0 points per game, followed by Bonard Johnson with 13.9.

The Rams will return home to take on Mid-Atlantic Christian University on December 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. inside the C.E.  Gaines Center . All fans can bring a canned good for free entry.
