WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team edges Johnson C. Smith 69-65, inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
The Rams improved to (7-16, 3-10 CIAA, 2-5 South) on the season
La'Niya Simes led the Rams with 14 points and nine rebounds, followed by
Christiana McLean with 13 points and eight rebounds, and
Khauri Little chipped in with 12 points.

The Rams went 24-of-64 from the field, 5-of-14 from three, and 15-of-21 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 36 rebounds, and scored 26 points in the paint, 25 points off of turnovers, and 33 bench points.

In the first quarter, the Rams went on a 7-2 run, on a
Kierran Walker three-pointer (5:01). The Golden Bulls went on a 5-0 run, tying the game at 7-7 (3:52). The Rams closed out the quarter on a 7-2 run, taking a 14-9 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Rams went on a 7-2 run, extending their lead to 21-11 lead on a
Jakaiya Mack lay-up (7:29). The Rams pushed their lead to 27-13 on a
Khauri Little three-pointer (4:57). The Golden Bulls closed out the half on a 14-3 run, but the Rams a 30-27 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Golden Bulls went on a 7-2 run, taking a 34-32 lead (7:39). A
La'Niya Simes lay-up tied the game 40-40 (3:39).
Khauri Little hit a three-pointer as time expired, giving the Rams a 50-44 lead going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, two
Khauri Little free-throws extended the Rams lead 54-44 (9:17). JSCU went on a 6-0 run, cutting the score to 54-50 (8:15).
Alana Biosse gave the Rams a 58-52, on a lay-up (5:22). A
Sierra Hunter free-throw gave the Rams 63-58, with 1:23 left in the game. JCSU cut the score to 66-63 with 38 seconds remaining in the game. Two
Christiana McLean free-throws gave the Rams a 68-63 with 37 seconds left.
