BALTIMORE, M.D. - The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team season concludes by falling to Bowie State University 64-54, in the CIAA Tournament opening round inside the CFG Bank Arena.
The Rams finished (7-20, 3-13 CIAA, 2-7 South) on the season
Christiana McLean led the Rams with 23 points, followed by Kierran Walker with nine points.
How It Happened
In the first quarter, the Rams started the game on a 12-0 run, taking a 12-0 lead on two La'Niya Simes free-throws (6:35). WSSU went on a 11-0 run, extending their lead to 23-3 on a Christiana McLean and-one (3:12). The Bulldogs closed out the quarter on a 8-2 run, giving the Rams a 25-11 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, Bowie went on a 6-2 run, cutting the Rams lead to 27-17 (7:18). An Alana Biosse lay-up pushed the score to 31-20 lead (3:55). The Bulldogs closed out the half on a 6-0, giving the Rams a 31-26 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, a Kierran Walker three-pointer made the score 38-31 (7:53). Bowie cut the Rams lead to 41-39 on a three-pointer (4:15). The Bulldogs went on a 7-1 run, taking their first lead of the game 46-42 with 58 seconds left in the quarter. Bowie took a 46-44 lead into the fourth quarter.
