Men’s Basketball Season Ends in First Round of CIAA Tournament on Wednesday

Baltimore, M.D.– The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team fell short to Bluefield State University 65-56 inside the CFG Bank Arena.

 The Rams finished the season (7-19, 2-14 CIAA, 0-10 South). 

Tyre Boykin led the Rams with 15 points, followed by Lance Gill and Khyelle Ingram, who chipped in with 13 points.

The Rams went 22-of-47  from the field, 5-of-12 from three, and 6-of-10 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 21 rebounds and 26 points in the paint and 17 points off turnovers. 

How It Happened 
In the first half, BSU took a 5-1 lead on a jumper (18:09). A Khyelle Ingram three-pointer gave the Rams a 6-5 lead (15:27). The Big Blue went on a 14-1 run, taking a 19-7 lead on a lay-up (9:10). BSU extended their lead to 26-12 on a three-pointer (6:02). The Rams went on an 8-2 run, cutting the lead to 28-20 on a Masaun Byrant three-pointer (1:58). A Big Blue three-pointer gave them a 36-22 going into halftime. 

In the second half, a Lance Gill three-pointer trimmed the lead to 40-27 (17:03). BSU took a 47-33 lead on a three-pointer (13:38). The Rams went on a 6-2 run, cutting the lead to 49-39 on a Tyre Boykin lay-up (8:45). BSU went on a 6-0 run, extending their lead to 57-41 on a lay-up (5:06). WSSU went on a 11-2 run, chipping the lead to 59-52 on a Lance Gill lay-up (1:55). The Big Blue sealed the game at the free-throw line.
